In the heart of the coastal wedding scene, where charm and authenticity matter just as much as style, one local vendor is quietly redefining what it means to create an elevated guest experience. Meet Michelle Lewis, owner of Hitched and Stirred, a mobile bar company that blends craftsmanship, creativity, and personalized service—all from a beautifully converted vintage horse trailer.
We spoke with Michelle to learn more about her journey, her approach to bartending, and how she’s helping couples bring something truly unique to their wedding day.
Rooted in the Shore, Inspired by Life
Michelle’s story begins where many of her clients’ stories unfold, right here on the shore. A coastal native, she was a competitive skater as a child and later left home as a young adult to travel and explore the world. During this time, she landed in the bartending and hairstyling industries. Hair and makeup styling also introduced her to the film world, where she had the opportunity to work well-known actors (John Hannah, Susan Sarandon, and Leah Thompson to name a few).
But it was personal transitions—and family needs—that brought her back home. “The beach and my family were what I needed,” she shares. “Being back here gave me the space to think creatively and start something new.”
That “something” became Hitched and Stirred, which officially launched at the end of 2022, with its first full season in 2023.
From Bridal Beauty to Beverage Service
Michelle’s background in weddings runs deep. With over 40 years of experience as a hairdresser, she spent much of her career working with brides and bridal parties. She also bartended in her early years and always found herself drawn to that role.
“I saw the same things happening at weddings over and over—gaps in service, boring bar options…clearly the market needed a new approach,” she says. “I wanted to offer something more curated, something that felt special.”
Combining her love for horseback riding, design, entertaining, and hospitality, Michelle envisioned a mobile bar with a vintage aesthetic that could easily fit into boho, barn, or beach-themed weddings.
What Sets Hitched and Stirred Apart
While mobile bar services are becoming more common at weddings, Hitched and Stirred brings a level of detail and finish that stands out.
“Our trailer is completely built out inside—no plastic tubs or temporary setups, no loose coolers hanging out back” Michelle explains. “It’s elegant, functional, and can serve guests from both the side and the back. It’s designed to handle high volume while still looking beautiful.”
The trailer's copper finishes and soft curves lend a timeless look, and a second trailer is already in the works to keep up with demand.
Michelle also offers custom decoration to match the couple’s wedding palette, ensuring the bar blends seamlessly into the overall event design.
Tailored Service and Thoughtful Menus
One of Michelle’s favorite parts of the job is working directly with couples to create drink menus that reflect their tastes and personalities. From handcrafted sangrias— “it sits for 24 hours, minimum”— to holiday favorites like hot chocolate, eggnog, or the expected signature wedding cocktails, everything is personalized. Michelle laughs, “The creativity that goes into it all—it’s like mixing potions. I’ll even make special drinks for friends.”
If a couple wants mocktails, seasonal drinks, or something completely original, Michelle can make it happen. “It’s about creating an experience that fits them,” she says, “We can customize and personalize any event and any menu. The sky is the limit, literally! ”
Pricing starts at $500 for a 1–2-hour event and goes up to $1,400 for longer, 4–5-hour events. Basic coffee service is also available, and all packages include setup and breakdown. Travel is complimentary within 30 miles, with a small fee of $2 per mile beyond.
Michelle’s team of five trusted bartenders brings years of experience, and no matter who is behind the bar, the same level of care and quality is delivered every time.
Planning Ahead
Due to high demand, Michelle recommends booking about a year in advance, especially for the fall season and holiday events which are in high demand. While occasional openings are available, most couples plan well ahead to secure their date.
A Thoughtful Touch to Every Celebration
At its core, Hitched and Stirred is about more than serving drinks. It's about creating moments that feel intentional, warm, and personal.
“Inside bars are so standard and boring. That doesn’t elevate the experience. When guests see the trailer, it becomes part of the atmosphere,” Michelle says. “Guests love it. It’s a talking piece, and they rave over it. It’s part of the celebration.”
When she’s not serving up hand-crafted cocktails at weddings and events, you can find Michelle creating some of the best coffee beverages in coastal Delaware at Bean’s Brews. This pop-up’s main location features the Hitched and Stirred vintage horse trailer and is located outside Custom Mechanical on Bayard Road in Frankford.
