Step 1: Complete application, online at www.townofbethanybeach.com/documentcenter/view/43, and submit to the to the Town Manager’s Office. There is no application fee. A response should be sent within 10 business days.

Step 2: Obtain Sussex County marriage license www.sussexcountyde.gov/applying-marriage-license *

*Note: The marriage license is valid for 30 days, based on time of application. It must be used in that time period. It is only valid in the State of Delaware. The waiting period is 24 hours (based on time of application) for all applicants.

Rules:

  1. The Town does not provide chairs, benches, trash cans or parking permits/passes.
  2. Littering is not permitted.
  3. Structures may not be erected on the beach.
  4. Alcohol is not permitted.
  5. Fire of any kind is not permitted.
  6. Public thoroughfares must remain open.
  7. Guests must follow all beach and boardwalk regulations.

Parking:

Between May 15 and Sept. 15, all parking east of Route 1 is controlled either by a pay-to-park or a parking permit. Purchasing time at a pay station and meter, or displaying a parking permit, is required during times specified below, seven days a week, including holidays. The rate for all pay to park spaces is $2.50 per hour. Payment for any pay-to-park space is required from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. in beach lots and areas designated on North and South Atlantic, and North and South Pennsylvania from First Street south to Hollywood Street, Garfield Parkway, the Garfield lot, and the fire department lot. From the First Street beach lot north to, and including, Fifth Street and from Hollywood Street Beach Lot south to, and including, Cedarwood Street, effective hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is a two-hour limit on Garfield Parkway, although parking can be extended with a new Pay Station receipt.
